The university campus is situated in the picturesque Barak Valley of Southern Assam, well-connected by air, rail, and road.

Eligibilty:

A. Professor (Academic Level 14)

Essential Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline from a recognized university.
2. A minimum of 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience, of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent.
3. Published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published works with a minimum of:
   • 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals (excluding Books/Chapters), OR
   • 10 publications as Books/Research Chapters (with ISBN), OR
   • A combination of the above.
4. A minimum Research Score of 120 as per UGC Regulations 2018 (Appendix II, Table 2).
5. Ph.D. supervision — successfully guided at least 2 doctoral candidates (ongoing supervision may also count in some cases).

B. Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A)

Essential Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
2. Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
3. A minimum of 8 years of teaching/research experience at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent, excluding the period spent for obtaining the Ph.D. degree.
4. A minimum of 7 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals.
5. A minimum Research Score of 75 as per UGC Regulations.
6. Contribution to educational innovation, curriculum design, and/or development of teaching-learning resources.

C. Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10)

Essential Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian university or an equivalent foreign degree.
2. National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR, OR State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) accredited by UGC, OR a Ph.D. degree obtained in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009/2016 and their amendments.
3. Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009, and awarded the degree shall be exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfilling the conditions laid down by UGC.

• Good academic record is essential at all levels (First Class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s level).
• For Engineering/Technology disciplines, qualifications as per AICTE norms shall apply.
• Candidates from Industry/Research Organizations with exceptional contributions may be considered under specific provisions.
• The 5% relaxation in marks (from 55% to 50%) at the Master’s level is allowed for SC/ST/PwBD categories.
• Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are eligible to apply; however, they will require necessary clearances if selected.

Job Description:

Assam University, Silchar (a Central University established by an Act of Parliament) invites online applications from eligible Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) for direct recruitment to various teaching positions across multiple departments and its Diphu Campus. The recruitment spans three academic levels — Professor (Academic Level 14), Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A), and Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10) — across diverse disciplines in the Faculties of Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Studies, Law, and more. Reservation policies as per Government of India norms (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) shall apply. In addition to the basic pay in the pay matrix, applicable allowances (DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, etc.) shall be admissible as per Central Government rules.

• Research: Conduct and publish original, high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals; secure external research funding from national and international agencies (DST, UGC, CSIR, ICSSR, DBT, etc.); guide M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars; establish and lead research groups/labs.
• Administration: Participate in departmental and university-level administrative responsibilities; serve on various academic and statutory bodies; contribute to NAAC/NIRF and other accreditation-related data preparation; assist in examination and evaluation duties.
• Extension Activities: Engage in extension and outreach programs; foster collaborations with industry, academia, and community; represent the university in seminars, conferences, and workshops.
• Institutional Development: Contribute to the overall academic and infrastructural development of the university; uphold the university’s vision of inclusive and quality higher education in the North Eastern Region of India.
