About- The Indian Institute of Technology Madras Chennai is inviting applications for the temporary position of Project Consultant for CVD diamond growth and treatment at the India Centre for Lab Grown Diamond (InCent-LGD).

Eligibility/Qualification–

PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field with a focus on Microwave Plasma CVD grown diamond.
Proven track record of research and expertise in lab grown diamond and LPHT annealing of diamond, demonstrated through publications and project experience [ At least 5 research publication on LPHT annealing of diamond]
Proficiency in various analytical techniques commonly used for characterizing diamond materials, such as Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy.

Responsibilities:

Provide the expert guidance in treating the brown coloration in the CVD diamond and analyzing the results to achieve near colorless diamond.
Develop strategies for treating diamond to get optical grade and expertise in characterizing the same as well.
Implementing LPHT annealing as a pre-treatment process to remove any defects present in seed plates before CVD diamond growth process.
Implementing combined effect of LPHT & HPHT treatment to get fancy coloured diamonds.
Guidance/Support in holistic characterization of different diamond grade such as optical, electronic & gem etc.

Co-ordinator: Prof. M. S. Ramachandra Rao, Department of Physics, IIT Madras Duration: Initially for one year, later extendable based on the performance.
