About- The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with a number of members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye Laws and as per the provisions of the relevant Act.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential qualification: Master’s Degree in Mathematical Science.
Desired past experience: Expertise in Topological Algebra ( either completed at least one course on Topological Groups or undertaken project work in related areas).
Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the post of Project Associate-I in the DST-INSPIRE project (DST/INSPIRE/04/2024/004079) (PI: Dr. Ayan Ghosh, SMCS, IACS).
Tenure: This position is temporary (initially for 6-months and can be extended up to 1 year, subject to continuation of the project and recommendation of the P.I. at the end of the initial tenure). Candidates will have no right to claim (explicit or implicit) any post or use any additional space or infrastructure in the institute.
Fellowship: As per rules of DST and IACS.
Last date for receiving application: 06.03.2026.
Selection procedure: Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of past academic record, match of the past expertise with desired requirements and other academic parameters, as decided by the selection committee. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for an interview for the final selection. Merely satisfying the essential qualification does not guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. IACS holds the full right of not selecting any, in case suitable applications are not received.
Date of Interview: Tentatively in the 2nd week of March, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be informed the schedule through email.
