Research/Job Area- Chemical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or Biotechnology

Location- National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Punjab, India

Eligibility/Qualification– 

1. Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

  • Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Basic Science OR Graduate/Postgraduate degree in a Professional Course.
  • Selection Criteria: Must have cleared National Eligibility Tests (CSIR-UGC-NET, GATE, GPAT) or national-level exams conducted by central agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, ICAR, etc.).
  • Experience: At least two years of research experience as a JRF.
  • Desired: Experience in molecular biology, biochemical methods, and animal cell culture.

2. Research Associate-I (RA-I)

  • Qualification: Ph.D. in relevant fields (Chemical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or Biotechnology) depending on the specific project.
  • Requirement: At least one (or two for the Brassica project) first-author research publication in an SCI-indexed journal.
  • Note: Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are eligible but will be paid an SRF salary until the successful defense of the thesis.

3. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

  • Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences or Genetics/Plant Breeding/Plant Physiology/Botany.
  • Selection Criteria: Must have cleared CSIR-UGC-NET (including Lectureship) or GATE, or other national-level exams by central government departments.
  • Desired: Experience in phenotyping, marker-assisted selection, and gene expression (qRT-PCR).

Selected candidates will be responsible for:

  • Conducting laboratory experiments related to their specific project (e.g., isolation of extracellular vesicles, lignin depolymerization, or genome editing).
  • Analyzing high-throughput data such as transcriptome, small RNA sequencing, or NGS data.
  • Preparing technical reports for funding agencies and writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Maintaining plant tissue cultures and performing genetic transformations where applicable.
