Eligibility/Qualification–
- Project Manager (Administration):
- Essential: Master’s degree in any discipline with five years of relevant experience in academia/industry OR Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with seven years of relevant experience in academia/industry.
- Desirable: Postgraduate degree in Management/PGDM/PGDBA.
- Project Manager (Finance):
- Essential: Master’s degree in Commerce/MBA (Finance) or equivalent with five years of relevant experience in Academia/Industries OR Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or equivalent with seven years of relevant experience in academia/industry.
- Desirable: Postgraduate degree in finance/PGDM/PGDBA (Finance).
- Technical Officer-II (Plant):
- Essential: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant area plus 2 years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant area plus 5 years’ experience.
- Desirable: Graduate in Biotechnology/Bioprocessing/Biochemical Engineering/related area specialization.
- Technical Officer-I (Plant):
- Essential: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant area plus 1 year of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant area plus 3 years’ experience.
- Desirable: Graduate in Biotechnology/Bioprocessing/Biochemical Engineering/related area specialization.
- Project Scientist – I (Plant):
- Essential: PhD in Science/Engineering/Technology OR Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology.
- Desirable: Specialization in Biotechnology/Bioprocessing/Biochemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Biochemistry/Chemistry or relevant area with two years’ experience.
- Project Scientist – II (Plant):
- Essential: PhD in Science/Engineering/Technology OR Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology and three years of R&D experience from industry/academia/S&T Organizations.
- Desirable: Specialization in Biotechnology/Bioprocessing/Biochemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Biochemistry/Chemistry or relevant area.
- Project Manager (Communications):
- Essential: Master’s degree in Mass Communication/Journalism or equivalent Bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant experience in Academia/Industry/Government Sectors.
- Desirable: Specialization in public relations.
- Research Associate – I (Plant):
- Essential: PhD in Science/Engineering/Technology OR Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology plus 3 years of experience in R&D with at least one research paper in SCI journal.
- Desirable: Specialization in Biotechnology/Bioprocessing/Biochemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Biochemistry/Chemistry/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or relevant area.
Research Area (for Research Associate – I (Plant) applicants): Candidates applying for the position of Research Associate-I (Plant) under the Biofoundry Hub, BRIC NABI, must specify their preferred order of the following research areas:
- Scale-up of low-calorie sugars/microbial products with techno-commercial precision.
- Production of smart/plant-based proteins for food applications.
- Computational Biology-based smart protein innovation for alternative protein development.
- Agri-waste-based crop protectants.
- Agri-waste-based packaging and coating materials.
- Agri biomass-derived levulinic acid for fuel and pharma applications.
- Heterologous bacterial expression of industrially important enzymes – from lab to pilot scale.
- Sustainable enzyme production and process engineering for pilot-scale development.
- Microbial colorants manufacturing and its commercial validation.
Job/Position Description-
The National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI), an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is seeking applications for various project-based positions. NABI focuses on transforming the Agri-food sector in India through knowledge generation and translational science, aiming to develop value-added products and improve household nutritional security. These positions are purely temporary and are part of the BRIC-NABI Biomanufacturing Center “Agri-Food Bio-Mug” project, which involves setting up an integrated pilot plant facility for bioprocessing agricultural waste biomass and other sources into biochemicals and high-value commercial products.

- Project Manager (Administration): Administrative control of the biofoundry hub, etc.
- Project Manager (Finance): Handling biofoundry hub financial matters; collecting fees from industries for using the facility and for technology licensing, etc.
- Technical Officer-II (Plant): Assisting in pilot plant processing in R&D, scale-up and downstreaming divisions.
- Technical Officer-I (Plant): Junior pilot plant specialist in R&D, scale-up and downstreaming divisions.
- Project Scientist – I (Plant): Plant operation in the areas of upstream, downstream, cleaning, packaging, etc.
- Project Scientist – II (Plant): Maintenance lead and pilot plant operator.
- Project Manager (Communications): Public relations activity, communication with industry as well as funding agencies on a regular basis, improving visibility of the biofoundry, product commercialization, and advertising.
- Research Associate – I (Plant): Assist in Research & Development and running the facility (pilot plant equipment in three shifts) in the areas of upstream processing, downstream processing, cleaning, and packaging, etc.
