AIIMS, Rishikesh, Punjab, India, invites applications for the Scientist (Non-Medical) Position at AIIMS from eligible and interested candidates.
About- The Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit – Centre of Research Excellence (MRU-CoRE) at AIIMS Rishikesh invites applications from enthusiastic and qualified researchers for Project Research Scientist positions (Non-Medical). These contractual positions are part of the Department of Health Research (DHR) supported MRU-CoRE initiative aimed at strengthening multidisciplinary biomedical research.
Eligible candidates with strong experience in clinical research data management, molecular biology, genomics, and translational research are encouraged to apply before the deadline.

Eligibility/Qualification-
1. Project Research Scientist–II (Non-Medical)
Essential Qualification
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following:
- First Class Postgraduate Degree (including integrated PG) in:
- Life Sciences
- Biotechnology
- Bioinformatics
- Microbiology
- Data Science
- Biostatistics
- Computational Biology
- Or related discipline
OR
- PhD in a relevant subject from a recognized university.
Essential Experience
Applicants should have experience in:
- Clinical research data management in biomedical or translational research
- Designing and maintaining research databases (REDCap, SQL, Excel validated systems)
- Managing multi-modal datasets (microbiology, genomics, clinical metadata)
- Data validation, audit trails, and quality assurance compliant with ICMR / GCP standards
- Statistical analysis using R, Python, SPSS, or STATA
- Preparing datasets for publications, regulatory submissions, and collaborative studies
- Ensuring data security, anonymization, and ethical compliance
Publication Requirement:
Minimum five first-author or corresponding-author SCI publications.
Desirable Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience with surveillance datasets, genomics, or AI-based clinical research systems
- Knowledge of FAIR data principles and biomedical data governance
- Exposure to machine learning dataset preparation
- Experience in multi-institutional collaborative projects
- Familiarity with regulatory documentation for ICMR/DHR funded studies
Salary
₹67,000 per month + HRA (as admissible)
Age Limit

2. Project Research Scientist–I (Non-Medical)
Essential Qualification
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following:
- First Class Postgraduate Degree in:
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Life Sciences
- Or related discipline
OR
- Second Class Postgraduate Degree with PhD in relevant subject from a recognized university.
Essential Experience
Candidates should have hands-on experience in:
- Nucleic acid extraction from clinical or microbial samples
- PCR, RT-PCR, and qRT-PCR assay design and optimization
- Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows including library preparation and quality control
- ELISA and other immunoassays for biomarker or pathogen studies
- Gel electrophoresis and molecular assay validation
- Processing infectious clinical specimens under biosafety conditions
- Laboratory SOP maintenance and quality documentation
Publication Requirement:
Minimum three first-author or corresponding-author SCI publications.
Desirable Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience in metagenomics or AMR gene detection
- NGS data interpretation or coordination with bioinformatics teams
- Experience integrating molecular results with clinical datasets
- Exposure to translational research in diagnostics or antimicrobial resistance
- Strong scientific writing and publication record
- Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations
Salary
₹56,000 per month + HRA (as admissible)

Designation

Selected candidates will contribute to multidisciplinary biomedical research projects under MRU-CoRE at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting clinical and translational research activities
- Managing research databases and datasets
- Performing molecular biology and genomic experiments
- Coordinating NGS workflows and data analysis
- Ensuring data quality, documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Preparing scientific reports, manuscripts, and collaborative research outputs
- Supporting interdisciplinary research initiatives within MRU-CoRE
Tenure of the Post
- Contractual appointment for 11 months initially
- Extendable based on project requirements and funding approval by Department of Health Research (DHR)
- These positions are temporary and not permanent AIIMS employment
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted in the following stages:

- Offline Assessment Test at AIIMS Rishikesh
- In-person Interview
