Eligibility/Qualification–

  • The research group is seeking candidates with a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in the areas of structural biology with demonstrated experience in cryo-electron microscopy, biomolecular structure determination, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • You must have evidence of high-level contribution to research, including an established track record of peer-reviewed publications and/or successful external grant applications as well as highly developed teamwork and communication skills, including excellent record keeping, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated candidates with experience in the application or development of cutting edge technologies and methodologies in modern cryo-electron microscopy techniques are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job/Position Description-

This is a full-time, fixed term position at Academic Level A for an initial appointment period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,342.89 – $92,782.26, plus super of up to 17%.

The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative structural biology program that seeks to characterise and elucidate the structures of important microbial virulence factors, with a principle focus on the use of cutting edge cryo-electron microscopy techniques to elucidate biomolecular structures. You will benefit from access to world class cryo-EM facilities that include a recent investment in Australia’s first JEOL CryoARM automated TEM platforms and will have a unique opportunity to contribute to and direct UQ’s growing critical mass in structural cryo-EM.

In addition to your own laboratory work, you will help oversee day-to-day operations and assist more junior laboratory members as required in order to achieve project-related goals. You will be responsible for experimental design, data analyses, and manuscript preparation, and will also be expected to apply for both independent and collaborative funding.
