Job Description:

  • Develop computational models to investigate sequence-dependent mechanical properties of DNA, RNA, DNA–RNA hybrids and chemically modified nucleic acids under external mechanical loading (e.g., force and torque).
  • Perform coarse-grained simulations, molecular dynamics simulations (using AMBER), and Monte Carlo/statistical sampling studies for model development, validation, and analysis.
  • Develop high-throughput computational workflows using Python/C++, and HPC resources to simulate and analyse large-scale nucleic acid sequence datasets.
  • Construct and analyse genome-scale mechanical atlases by quantifying sequence-dependent properties such as stiffness, flexibility, bendability, and other mechanical properties.
  • Investigate the effects of sequence variations, single-nucleotide mutations, and epigenetic modifications on nucleic acid mechanics and their potential biological implications.
  • Perform data-driven analyses, motif discovery, and AI/ML-based approaches, to identify mechanically significant sequence patterns and signatures.
  • Integrate mechanical predictions with genomic and functional datasets to support genome annotation, variant prioritization, and studies of gene regulation.
  • Develop, document, and maintain scientific software and computational tools for dissemination to the broader research community.
  • Contribute to project reports, research publications, presentations, student mentoring, and collaborative research activities.
