Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential criteria:
- PhD in Biological Sciences or related discipline
- Molecular biology techniques
- Fly genetics
- Strong dissection and immunohistochemistry skills
- Confocal/2P microscopy
- Basic programming skills
- Ability to work independently in the design and execution of experiments
- Be a team player
Desirable:
- Experience with Transcriptomics
- MATLAB / Python for image analysis
- A strong publication record in neuroscience
- Experience of live imaging

Job description
This 3-year post-doctoral position in the laboratory of Dr Darren Williams is funded by the BBSRC.
The Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders are world-leading centres in the field of developmental neuroscience and brain disorders, situated in central London.
We are seeking a bright, talented and self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our team. Candidates should have a PhD in Biological Sciences and ideally have experience with Drosophila genetics, neurobiology and imaging techniques.
Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week Contract: Fixed-term for 36 months
Key responsibilities
- Undertake original biomedical research as an integral member of a group working on the development of the adult nervous system of Drosophila, specifically focusing on the growth and size control of complex neuronal arborizations.
- Design and optimize strategies for visualizing subcellular compartments with state-of-the-art techinques.
- Perform live imaging in Drosophila
- Analyse imaging data
