Eligibility/Qualification–

Essential criteria:

PhD in Biological Sciences or related discipline
Molecular biology techniques
Fly genetics
Strong dissection and immunohistochemistry skills
Confocal/2P microscopy
Basic programming skills
Ability to work independently in the design and execution of experiments
Be a team player

Desirable:

Experience with Transcriptomics
MATLAB / Python for image analysis
A strong publication record in neuroscience
Experience of live imaging

Job description

This 3-year post-doctoral position in the laboratory of Dr Darren Williams is funded by the BBSRC.

The Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders are world-leading centres in the field of developmental neuroscience and brain disorders, situated in central London.

We are seeking a bright, talented and self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our team. Candidates should have a PhD in Biological Sciences and ideally have experience with Drosophila genetics, neurobiology and imaging techniques.

Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week Contract: Fixed-term for 36 months

Key responsibilities

Undertake original biomedical research as an integral member of a group working on the development of the adult nervous system of Drosophila, specifically focusing on the growth and size control of complex neuronal arborizations.
Design and optimize strategies for visualizing subcellular compartments with state-of-the-art techinques.
Perform live imaging in Drosophila
Analyse imaging data
